Line Cook

Position Type: Full-time or Part-time (20-35hrs a week)

We’re looking for a reliable, skilled, and enthusiastic Line Cook to join our kitchen team at The Star Inn, Waldron — a busy village pub serving freshly prepared, seasonal British food in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

About the Role:
As our Line Cook, you’ll work alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef to deliver high-quality dishes during service. You’ll be responsible for prepping and cooking food to spec, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting the overall flow of the kitchen during busy shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes consistently to a high standard

  • Manage your station efficiently during prep and service

  • Follow kitchen procedures and recipes accurately

  • Keep your workstation clean, organised, and stocked

  • Support other sections when required and communicate clearly with the kitchen team

  • Ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are followed at all times

  • Help with stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients

  • Contribute to a positive, respectful kitchen environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen (pub or restaurant experience preferred)

  • Strong cooking skills and a good understanding of kitchen operations

  • Ability to stay calm, organised, and focused during busy periods

  • Positive attitude, good communication skills, and team spirit

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to consistency and quality

  • Willingness to learn and take direction
